Stage 1 — Research & Discovery

  • Conducted a brand audit of MI’s existing identity and compared it with local and global news media branding.

  • Identified key differentiators: MI’s progressive editorial tone, focus on in-depth reporting, and willingness to challenge norms.

  • Researched visual trends in contemporary news design, as well as art movements that could inject personality without undermining credibility.

  • Defined brand pillars: independence, freshness, credibility, and visual sophistication.

Stage 2 — Concept Development

  • Explored concepts that merge modern editorial aesthetics with artistic flair, avoiding clichéd “news” tropes like rigid grids or dated serif-heavy layouts.

  • Proposed a sleek, adaptable logo paired with dynamic visual elements inspired by contemporary art forms — geometric layering, textured patterns, and bold color interplay.

  • Ensured the brand identity would translate effectively across digital platforms, print media, and social channels.

Stage 3 — Visual Identity Design

  • Logo: Crafted a minimalist, timeless logotype with sharp edges and clean lines, conveying professionalism and modernity.

  • Color Palette: Selected a refined set of colors that balance boldness with editorial neutrality.

  • Typography: Chose modern sans-serif fonts for clarity and digital legibility, complemented by editorial-style headings for depth.

  • Graphic Elements: Incorporated subtle art-inspired accents to keep layouts visually engaging without distracting from news content.
